Yeah that's true about tastes. I'm kinda the same way about styles. I listen to almost anything, although I don't particularly like mainstream stuff or country music.

I hold a pretty great hatred for both rap and hip-hop. Partially because EVERYONE at my school listens to it. Seriously. In my grade, me, and maybe 3 other people, do not listen to rap or hip-hop. Well, actually, one of them does, but he also listens to metal. In my whole grade. There's like 200-something students in my grade.

All of the people in my grade who listen to something other than rap, hip-hop, or The Jonas Brothers (*shudder*), are male. It makes me sad...

*sniff*, well, I'll find someone someday...

Oh, and all of the people in my grade who listen to metal, listen to it for the wrong reasons. I listen to it because I can relate to most of the songs better than rap or hip-hop, and I like the instruments, the way it sounds, etc. For the most part, They just like it because no one else is listening to it.

Stupid, stupid generation. I hate everyone in my generation, but that's a story for another topic.

lol. our generation is all about standing out/being popular. SCREW THAT, METAL BECAUSE IT IS THE BEST... lol. but i must say rap vocals fused with Rock or Metal instruments is amazing, like Disturbed does that.

Some Chimaira songs are pretty good at that as well, and some Mudvayne and Slipknot. New Mudvayne sucks though. Well, all Mudvayne sucks, except for like 3 songs.

I see it exactly the opposite, our generation, to me, seems like it's all about fitting in, not standing out, Which is why everyone at my school lets the iTunes Top 10 dictate what they listen to. It's pitiful. No one at my school thinks for themselves. They all wear designer Hollister and... whatever else there is, clothing.

All of that stuff.

I try not to really stand out, or fit in. I'm just sort of there. Part of that is because I hate socializing with other people (Well, people I don't know well, anyway), but that's a topic for another thread.

I don't but then again I don't really keep up with the whole metal/hardcore scene anymore.

I also can't stand country music... It makes my ears bleed. Whenever my roommate wants to piss me off though he just goes and blasts his country music lol.

I used to hate rap but I grew to have an appreciation for some of it.

The only rap I like is German rap. American rap is all about sex, partying, and all of that. A lot of this amazing german rap is about good stuff. My favorite is Verboten Liebe. Can't remember who it is by right now. look for it on Youtube, or I'll post a video in the morning. Great song.

I can't help but wonder; if everyone at my school listened to metal, would I listen to rap?

COLDPLAY!!!

Their old stuff was good. Viva La Vida was their worst album ever. It made me lose respect for them.

I'm mostly into the Oldies, basically anything from the 1950's to the 80's. Ha, and I'm only 17 years old. Tongue

Some of my favorite bands are the Doobie Brothers, King Harvest, and Billy Joel. However, for a favorite song, I guess I don't have one.  Undecided
