http://supermariobroscrossover.com/

So not a console game so much, it is playable in the browser through flash and yes you CAN use a gamepad with it, there is info on the site on how to do so.

So you've played Super Mario Bros. and you're all like "yeah, old news" well now you can play SMB with other NES characters!

You can choose from many game characters, we have Ninja Gaiden, Metroid, Contra, Zelda, Mario (of course), Mega Man and Castlevania. The characters from these games are (in order that I listed the games) Ryu, Samus, Bill R., Link, Mario, Mega Man and Simon Belmont.

Each one comes with their unique powers and you get better weapons and powers as you collect the mushrooms and fire flowers. You have to check it out to realize the true awesomeness of this crossover.

Enjoy!

A lot of fun! Reminds me of the indie game that's currently in beta called Mushroom Kingdom Fusion, which incorporates things from games like Doom,  and many others.

Yeah I've heard about that one I just haven't checked it out yet and I gotta say they did a great job with this crossover. I'm going to have to check out this Fusion one though it seems pretty popular.
