I have a HP c4100 printer.  I would like to make it wireless.  Can I just add a bluetooth dongle to the usb port (with an adapter since it is usb B)?

No, that won't do anything since the printers firmware does not enable wireless use.

Yeah for the dongle to work the printer would need the drivers to use it.

Some manufacturers do sell dongles for their printers but, I looked around and there doesn't seem to be one for your printer, sorry.

You can make it wireless by hooking it up to a computer that is connected to your network through wi-fi then you can share your printer on your network that way.  That involves having more than one PC and making sure the one connected to the printer is always on.  Another option is to use a print server but that is a bit more complex than what you are looking for I'm sure.

You can always try the dongle if you already have one. In the world of computers odd things happen all the time, I really doubt it will work but crazier things have worked in the past.

Another way you can connect your printer to wifi is if it has a ethernet cord just connect it directly to the router and have the printer print a diagnostic page and it should give you a IP address. When it does set up a new printer as a network printer type in the ip and you have wireless.

I might do what with one of the printers in my house.

but yeah the router method will work just as well personally i just hate tying up a port on my roouter with a printer but  if you arent planning on using all of your ports it wont be a problem

Wow!  Thanks for all the quick replies.  Though I should not be that surprised as I recognize alot of your names from the samsung eternity forum (a great forum).  I not surprised I cannot do it the simple way, that would be just too easy for the "computer world."  Thanks again.
