Like a wall outlet? I doubt it. Unless you had a spare power supply lying around that you were going to hook up the fan to.

well you could cut hack/mod the fan to have an actual power plug thats a bit of work though but if you do it you could write up a tutorial and im sure it would be pretty popular and it would introduce you to the wonders of modding just dont electrocute yourself and if you hook it up wrong you will fry your fan or kill yourself lol maybe you shouldnt do that lol

ah well that makes things easier.

you just need some sort of case to house the fans, power supply and power switch.

i dont know what  kind of use you are looking for so i cant tell you a design yet i am sure you already have one in your head though just put everything in a case plug in the power supply hit the switch and your fans will turn on

the bitch is going to be building a suitable case

Like a wall outlet not if you put it directly in the socket you would need something to bring the voltage down and then it would work.

the case thing i should have mentioned dont use a pc power supply check out some  diy electronic sites they will have a large variety of power supplies for different uses and radio shack sells a lot of parts for diy projects you can use your pc fans but they will have fans better suited for your project

and if you did want to use pc parts you could make a seperate housing for the power supply it would be kind of like a power brick for your 360 you know?  then make a sheath for the cords running to the fan housing to make it look like a single cord then you can use your pc fans. the pc power  supply will run the fans  alone just fine  but if you want to be really cool hook it up with some led lights oh yeah

so how are you wanting this thing to work do you want to rest you laptop on top of the fans too cool from the bottom or do you want them blowing across the laptop?

Well, I mean, since the components of the laptop are inside, I didn't really see the point in just cooling the outer-layer of plastic.

Anything will cool the system a little, the bottom of laptops get really hot, this would cool it down a bit.

Don't look at it like what's the point, it's a project go for it, it will teach you many things.  Go beyond just the fans, make a whole laptop station that cools with fans and has peripherals such as a usb hard drive built into the case so when you set the laptop on you just plug it into the usb slot and now you've got your home storage. Don't ask me why it's just something to do to expand on the idea. Be creative you can do whatever you want really.

Shoot, you could have the fans cooling the system and just put cup holders and other accesories on it lol have a drawer that pops out the front with places to hold a usb drive extra cords and anything else you might need...
