Hey guys it's been a while. I got a big problem! So I got my new computer parts today, an amd 64 athlon dc 3.2, with Asus motherboard and 500 gb seagate hard drive, so I put everything together when I notice the power supply I had was only 20 pin, not 24, so I read the manual and it said it would work, so I boot the computer up, and for 5 mins all I get on my monitor is no signal, so what does this smart *ss do, I go and take out the CPU and reinstall it, now the thing won't start up for more than 3 seconds. I really f**ked up my computer. And to top things off, I just got laid off from work too. If someone can please help my horrible day be better please help me!

Did that, still same problem, however, if I remove the 4 pin atx cable, it will run for longer than 3 seconds, still no visual, but it still runs,, so I think now it's either the psu or moboi

hey guys, sorry it's been a while, i struggled for a month trying to make tiger direct take back my POS motherboard. I got a newer one, (Gigabyte) and i purchased a simple card ( no additional power required) and still nothing. However, it still stays on longer. I suspect the processor (the only thing i havent changed). Anyone else have any other solutions??

EDIT: So this idiot forgot to plug in the 4 pin atx, which explains the processor, however, its booting (hearing the beep that means boot is successful) however still no video signal. However, when my monitor is off, the fan and everything is running normally, but when i turn on the monitor, the cd rom starts to try and read a disk inside of it (you can here it spinning),, but theres no disk in it?? HELPP!!!!!

What output do you have attached to the video card and is there an integrated graphics card in the motherboard?

I know this sounds basic, but did you try another monitor (or the same monitor on another computer)?
And you don't get any image at all? Does the monitor stay at "No Signal" or does it light up a little like it knows something is plugged in?

Alright, been a while again, turns out it was my motherboard again, so I bought another asus, AND IT WORKED... For about an hour... I put on windows 7, antivirus and installe my graphics card and it worked fine, then I tried to cut a corner to transfer my files by instaling my old IDE hard drive into the new computer and when I booted it up, it's no longe recognizing my sata hard drive. It is a seagate barracuda 7200

EDIT: FIXED IT, RESET CMOS AND IT WORKED...
