My 16GB Sandisk Cruzer flash drive only shows 750mb. How can I fix it?
I've had it for about a year and it has shown 14.9GB until today, it's only 750mb for some reason. Please help... Sad

Thats because the manufacturers use 1000 bytes = 1kb, and computers use 1024 bytes = 1kb. So the actual capacity should only be about 93% of advertised capacity. But mine suddenly went down to 750mb (5% if my math is right)

Reformat didnt work.
Disk management shows 14.9gb, but my computer only shows 750mb.
This is not the same drive I used for the linux bootable drive, by the way. That one's fine.

It became completely empty once the problem started. It's 749 of 750 mb free. I'll upload a screenshot later today.
When I plug it into my mac, it's capacity is normal. But as soon as it is plugged into my windows machine, it's 750mb again.

Try a different USB port if you have any.

I tried 3 different computers, mac, laptop (3 ports), and netbook (2 ports). The laptop (Windows) and netbook (Windows) show 750mb. The mac shows the correct capacity. I also tried Ubuntu on the netbook, that also shows the correct capacity. It looks like windows is the problem.

perhaps a hardware error? scan your system for any errors with the hardware, or check manually

I didn't download the attachment, but the file extension is .wmv. How is that an executable file?

I'll download it anyway. I have a strange feeling I'm about to get rickrolled, but hes an admin, so I trust him.

EDIT: I doesn't look like anything is wrong there. One thing I noticed, when I plug it in, it shows the 750mb, then when I remove and plug in again, its 14.9gb, then next time its 750mb again. Also, whenever I fill it up more than 750mb, it gets wiped...

EDIT: If I get a new one, whats a good < $50 16gb drive I could get?
