This is a tutorial on how to change your email protocol. Which in simplified terms means when you click a Email link the program that pops up to send the message.

In Google Chrome

For Gmail you can download the Gmail Notifier from Here which automatically sets up the browser for Gmail.

For Yahoo! There is no specific fix for this in Chrome but if you install the Yahoo Tool bar from Here In another browser like Internet Explorer so you won't have to look at it if you don't use IE and in the installation process you have to set Yahoo mail as the default and It should work from there on for mailto: links.

For Hotmail the best way to set hotmail as the default mailto protocol is do install a extension in Chrome, this is the easiest and most non-involved way in doing so. You can get the extension from Here

In Firefox

For Yahoo! and Gmail Go to tools --> Options ---> And Click the Applications tab ----> Scroll down to mailto: and in the drop down list select Yahoo or Gmail.

For Hotmail there is a extension when you install it in Firefox you hover your mouse and it displays 3 Mail Carriers Yahoo! Gmail and Hotmail. Download from Here

In Internet Explorer

For Yahoo! you pretty much have to download the Yahoo! Toolbar from Here

For Gmail Download the Gmail Notifier Program and once its installed Right Click the Tray Icon and Select Options and Select Internet Explorer in the drop down list.

For Hotmail Go to Control Panel --> Internet Options ---> Programs Tab ----> The Email Drop down list select Hotmail
