Dang, that sucks dude. You could try asking him for a loan, if you haven't already, and then buy a newer computer. Mine was only 500, but you probably won't need as good of a processor (I don't even need as good of a processor...) so you could just upgrade the video card some more. Probably come out to around $500 or more if you wait for a sale.

Just watch CyberPowerPC for sales and stuff. Or slowly collect parts from NewEgg every time you get enough money for one.

Poor Me... They wont buy it for me...   Cry  I wouldn't either. You get nothing for nothing.  sign0135
For less than a few hundred bucks you could replace your Processor, Ram and Graphics Adapter. Computer faster than new.
You could work for those over a short period of time...  I'm tired of whining teenagers. You people truly believe you don't have to work for anything. It should all be provided for you. Parents don't have to pay for everything you know... Someday you gotta pay your own way..  Are you so young that you cannot get work? (any work of some kind..!)
Does "someone" have to buy the AutoCAD for you also? (Or you got a Cracked/Stolen Version)
Honestly, I applaud that you want it for a good reason like CAD work. (as opposed to just msn and youtube. etc). You could try ...  ProgeCAD (They have a free version) , or my favourite, IntelliCAD/CADopia. Is $300... Perfect for Impoverished Beginners...  and they work well in older machines... (I was running IntelliCAD on 1.6ghz-processor/256mb ram. Quite well)
For FUCKSAKE. Stop crying and grow up...
Set yourself a goal... and ... WORK TOWARDS IT...!!!

My apologies if I offended anyone (else) but this had to be said..

My parents won't allow me to get a job because they make me take AP classes, my computer processor can't be upgraded its a socket A I have the fastest I can get with that I believe. I get good grades but they don't want to help me out at all. My parents won't even let me wash their car or do laundry for money every thing I do at home has to be for free or I get forced to do it I'm not saying I want them to just buy me a computer for nothing they don't even allow me to work for it.  17

Harsh it may be, but it's true.

I don't get $60 a month, but I started working a lot more around the house and waited until after I got birthday and Christmas money before making my purchase.

In my earlier post, I guess I didn't really realize that he was essentially begging for a new computer (or, atleast, that's what his post makes it seem like. But who knows, this might just be a big misunderstanding, and his uncle uses their current computer a lot, but refuses to pitch-in on buying a new one.)

Well, Sirricharic posted while I was typing this one, so....

@Sirricharic

Hmm... I'd say, ask your parents for a loan for a computer first (Make sure you have one in mind though so you know how much you need, I'd, again, recommend CyberPowerPC because you can customize your PC a lot, and the sales let you get stuff for pretty cheap.

If they refuse, ask why. I doubt they'd be able to come up with a valid, uncounterable reason.

Tell them why you want it, and how it can help you. Show them some of your houses if you haven't already. In my opinion, you are very talented, and unless your parents are not tech-savvy at all (Even so, those are some pretty nice houses), they should understand that you are good at it, and a new PC capable of using the professional programs would only benefit you.

Atleast get them to understand that your current PC is a POS. Hit it with a hammer a few times before talking to them to make some dents in the case. Possibly even damage one of the fans to make it incredibly loud and obnoxious so they will either 1. Allow you to buy a new one (Or they will buy one, etc) or 2. Throw your current one into the trash. 33

I'm not allowed to celebrate any holidays so I get no money on special occasions and I just asked and he says you don't need a computer you just want one. There's no winning with him like basically all I have to do is set the computer I have on fire then I can get a new one. People say oh you get $60 a month just save but you don't understand $60 doesn't go far at all because I have to pay everything with it like God forbid I want to go out on a Friday or want some new shoes and recently I've been getting my $60 cut in half because I refuse to pay bus fare and walk places and end up missing curfew.

Eeesh... I dunno what to tell you. He probably spends his money on stuff he doesn't need. Does your house have a TV? Does he pay for cable or similar?

Try to sit down and have a serious talk with him. You're what, 15? 16? I don't know. He's just being.... difficult. Does he have something against computers?

You could overclock your CPU until it broke, and then tell him that the computer stopped working. Or blow out your PSU or something nefarious like that.

Harsh... Yes....  But, sometimes you gotta be cruel to be kind.

Does your house have a TV? Does he pay for cable or similar?

Perhaps he's already paying for whopping great globs of bandwidth and is concerned about your "Addiction". (I quote your avatar Sirricharic)
I wont delve into the reasoning of parents. I am one and trust me, we have our various reasons for all we do.
Usually its for what we believe to be best for our offspring. (Even if, no-one is correct all the time)
I can only guess at why they've said no. There could be many reasons.
ie. Do you have a birthday coming up?,
Can they actually afford it? when to them it may seem as yours is fine,
Is it YOUR computer, or the FAMILY'S unit? (Is your machine already better than the family unit?)

Fair to say that most parents want more for their own kids than they had themselves. Also fair to say, I bet you do have exactly that.
That said, you did come across as a whiney spoilt brat. That in itself shows you have some maturing to do. Which may very well be the lesson you're meant to learn.
I believe I speak for most parents when I say that we react much better to a more disciplined approach than just saying "Gimme Gimme ... WAAAHH!!"
Evidently, you are a clever young man. Act accordingly. They will more likely encourage this than refuse it. But, they may simply not understand the relevance/importance of a "better" machine. (as it is with most older people.)

Seriously consider 2 things...  1: Performance Upgrade. (its cheaper. (I bought recently a 2 yo mobo with quadcore
support and DDR2 ram for $85-) and its the "clever" and reasonable option)
2: Use less intensive software. It is out there. And works just fine for training and display purposes.
Only for the time being of course. Until you take over the whole world, later... 97

(I may be able to help you with point 2. If you ask...)

I still stand by my earlier comments ...
Set yourself a goal... and ... WORK TOWARDS IT...!!!
Honestly, I applaud that you want it for a good reason like CAD work.
That's what I do...
I get good grades but they don't want to help me out at all. My parents won't even let me wash their car or do laundry for money every thing I do at home has to be for free or I get forced to do it I'm not saying I want them to just buy me a computer for nothing they don't even allow me to work for it.  17

Getting good grades is it's own reward. Stick at it... And, you ARE supposed to help around the house anyway. You live there after all. Plus, it shows maturity and responsibility. These attributes put you closer to "on par" with the adults around you. You may find yourself therefor being taken more seriously...

    Rant OVER... Lol 93

It's probably not that they don't like you, but they're (Like MetalManicMan said) trying to do what they think is best for you. I don't think that they understand how much this computer and CAD stuff means to you, and they probably just think that it's something like a little kid begging for a toy in the store, only instead of that scenario, it's their son wanting a new computer. Do they work around computers at all? Do they understand how a computer works? I don't think that they realize that your computer is becoming a bit outdated.

Quote
The salesman at the store said the computer is going to be up to date for 10 years so I don't know why you're whining about it.
